The Audra Show #34

Thank you so much to my new friends Sarah Cooper and Jennifer K. Johnson for answering my plea for last-minute guests!

Sarah and I chatted about moving from NY to SF, the perils of stand-up comedy and her awesome & hilarious blog, The Cooper Review: thecooperreview.com

And Jennifer called in to tell us about her May 6 production at Brainwash Cafe called "Not A Pinata" and about the history of the pinata.

Thank you again to you both!

Very big thanks to Erica Petry Ballesteros & Lennie Ballesteros for a fun chat that covered how Er & I hated each other until a giant block of ice changed that forever, how we became F.F.F. and some of our sillier adventures through the years, Lennie's comedy (and Erica's heckling of Lennie's comedy) and who tickled his feet when he was a baby!

Thank you to my friend/former co-worker Mark Salazar for coming on the show to chat about growing up in Hawaii, fighting with old ladies in Daly City, our disastrous work trip to San Diego, Shabu Shabu, Chuck Norris and what to do if you think you or someone you know has an issue with hoarding (for real). And for making me drink my first (and probably last) Bud Light Lime-A-Rita!

Big thanks to my good friend Adrian Robinson for stopping by The Audra Show before leaving the best coast. We chatted about his upcoming move back to DC, why he is getting out of politics, some politics, tech companies, online security, how millenials don't know that Bruce Jenner is the old Michael Phelps and why Kendrick Lamar's new album is the best hip-hop record of all time.

Why was Lori ironing these pajamas? Find out on Episode #29 of The Audra Show!

A big thank you to my silly sissy LoriAnn and her college roomie/honorary Laquidara family member, the "incomparable" Kerry Czerepinski Leo for being my episode #29 guests. We got serious for a little while to discuss their careers in education. Lori is currently helping NYS schools close the achievement gap and Kerry is the co-founder of Da Vinci Education and Research, which helps schools, students and families understand individual learning characteristics. Check them out on FB or here: www.davincicenter.net

But mostly we cracked ourselves up discussing how Kerry really is practically related to us and exploring life's big questions like why Lori was ironing the pajamas pictured here, why real penises don't vibrate and why women don't feel as free in public bathrooms as men. ‪#‎womensbathroomrights‬

And THEN, I was joined by my no-longer teenage niece for session #2 of Kara 's Music Review which featured 2 cool new bands that will help you feel hip for knowing about. ‪#‎youhearditontheaudrashowfirst‬

Thank you to Lor, Ker and Kar! I love you all!

Very big thanks to Chuckie & Richid for being my guests this week. It was great catching up with an empty green room and a generic avatar to discuss the Chankees, conventional mechanicals, alternate name options for the Ass Cheek Palace, Rich-isms, and that time Chuckie showed me how to use the internet. Sadly there was much we didn't get to so we're saving it for the WCJ reunion episode of The Audra Show.

And since I don't have a better picture from this episode, I've thrown in a couple of ‪#‎TBTs‬ from the '80s party of 1998 - with apologies to the others that I am dragging into this (especially KT since I just TBT'ed her recently).

Sadly, no pics this week, but many thanks to Kara Gracie for the debut of her recurring new music review segment which has yet to be named. This month, she told us about her friend's band Diet Cig and the song from the closing credits of Boyhood: "Hero" by Family of the Year. They are both great!

Check them out on the show or check out Diet Cig on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fatherdaughter/diet-cig-scene-sick

And thank you to Valerie Branch for stopping by in my way-too-short 2nd hour to discuss her new normal as a PR entrepreneur/comic/radio host/drag queen and our relationship (or lack thereof) issues.

Very big thanks to my now 2x guest Ed Attanasio and my surprise guest, his lovely wife Simone, who now apparently wants to set me up. We had a great time chatting about my baseball cards, ‪#‎DeflateGate‬, 44 chihauhuas, why their relationship works, and yes, my terrible love-life.

There may have also been a mention about how I yelled at Bob Benson before the show. But Ed said I'm nice so it's all good. Thank you both and please come back anytime!

Despite some connection issues, Barb, Rory and I managed to have a very fun chat that reviewed why "(MOST) guys are shit", being in our 40s, my past as a narc in college, and Ror's triumphant return to performing. Thank you both, my dear old friends!

Many thanks to Annabel Green-Lavielle of Global Heart Network Foundation for a very interesting chat that covered GHN's work in Senegal and Rwanda, the (possible) good that may come out of the Ebola crisis and yesterday's Charlie Hebdo attack, as well as living on a boat in the SF Bay.

New Year's Eve Episode of The Audra Show: Just me babbling for longer than I thought I would (~50 minutes) about some things I thought about in 2014.

Happy New Year and thank you for listening to this silliness! In the tradition of him stealing all of my guests, I'll now be heading over to The Bob Benson show for a little while.

Episode #18 turned into a surprise crossover episode with The Bob Benson Show. It's 2 shows in 1 (which at times, probably feels like 2 shows happening at once) featuring my guest Charles Orenthal James Patterson of Courting Comedy, Bob Benson, Bob's co-host Paul ("just Paul is fine") and their guest, my former guest, Anthony Medina of True Hustle Entertainment.

We did manage to get an update on OJ's retirement from comedy and also covered everything from The Cotton Club to the ‪#‎Twitterloin‬. SPOILER ALERT: I'm just bummed that the white men vs PoC dance off never happened.

Thanks to all for a fun & unique experience! And thanks for listening!

Thank you to Robert A. Medeiros and Lilycat for a fun show which explored a wide variety of random topics including Bob's creepy stalker-ness, his 3-way relationship with Danny Dechi and Bob Benson and his theory that people born between 1968 & 1971 are more creative than anyone else, my new theme song and my "unconventional" life, and Lilycat's walk from work to Haight Street and my first man-on-the-street interview!

Anthony Medina and I ended up going on a podcast adventure that explored spirituality, the importance of connection & support, the power of positivity, the LA riots, the sex toy industry and why the truth is in the hustle. We even managed to touch on all the great comedy, music and burlesque events coming up for True Hustle Entertainment! Thank you to Anthony for a very fun show! #respectyourself
